Northern California Updates:

ISAAC Northern California has been active despite my assumption of a full-time interim English ministry pastoral position at Canaan Taiwanese Christian Church (San Jose). The ministry work has been enriching and envigorating!
The second ISAAC Research Seminar of Northern California was held at the Berkeley Chinese Community Church on Oct 27. Dr. Russell Yee provided a preview of his forthcoming book, Worship on the Way: Exploring the Need for Asian North American Worship (Judson Press).

Dr. James Chuck led well-attended three session workshop entitled “An Overview of Bible and Theology for Lay People,” also at the Berkeley Chinese Community Church on Oct 2, 16, and 30. This workshop was co-sponsored by CONFAB.

A report and the raw data from the Art of Preaching in Asian American Settings workshop (May 13) can be found here: https://isaacblog.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/report-art-of-preaching-in-asian-american-settings-workshop-ncal/

I’m grateful that Grace Hsiao has been picking up some of the slack. Grace comes to ISAAC with experience at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and City Church (San Francisco). She is helping to strengthen our core support in Northern California and is facilitating one of our pastoral clusters on Asian American theology and preaching.

I anticipate 2011 to be an exciting year for ISAAC Northern California! We are planning to hold a book celebration of Mirrored Reflections in February, workshops on family life, and produce more  resources on Asian American theology, ministry longevity, and integration into non-Asian American churches.

Thank you for your continued support!

Executive Director
