Preparing for College workshop – Apr. 25 (Hayward, CA)

Greetings everyone,

The workshop on “Preparing for College,” originally to be held this Saturday (Apr 25) at the Chinese for Christ Church of Hayward, has been postponed due to low enrollment. We will refund those who have already registered. We are grateful for Chinese for Christ Church of Hayward for their hospitality and co-sponsorship.

We hope to offer this workshop in the near future. In the meantime, Betty Tseng has very limited availability to lead workshops for the parents and teenagers in Bay Area churches. Please contact her if you are interested in holding a workshp in your church [Email Betty Tseng].

Thanks for your interest and apologies for the inconvenience.

What this workshop is about:

If you are a high school student or a parent of a high school student, thinking about and preparing for college can be exciting and challenging. Because Asian Americans value college education so much, the competition to gain entry into certain colleges often hurts the spiritual growth of teenagers and their parents. This workshop will provide practical tools to plan and navigate the college admissions process. Don’t wait until the last minute to begin the college application! The workshop will also help church leaders to strengthen family ministries and improve relations between first and second generations. Inter-generational ministries in Asian American congregations can be enhanced by this workshop!

The workshop will be led by Betty Tseng. Betty is the Director of Development for the Connie Laurie School of Education at San Jose State University. She received her certificate in College Admissions Advising from U.C. Berkeley and has two teenage sons, one of whom is about to go to college. She uses her college admissions advising training as way to support church ministries to families.
