I’m pretty sure you can. Just email Dr. James Chuck and discuss with him how you’d like to volunteer.

I would like any info you have about my great-grandfather, Chan Hon Fun, who I was told was the founder of the Chinese Methodist Church in San Francisco in the late 1800’s.

Here is what I have received from my 92 year old mother, his grand-daughter. Thanks.

“Chan Hon Fun became a Christian in Hong Kong through the Reverend Gibson, an American missionary to China. Chan and his wife, Maggie, were part of an upstanding Chinese family. The couple was sent to California by Dr. Gibson to preach the Gospel to the Chinese in America. They arrived in Portland Oregon where their first two daughters were born. They eventually moved to San Francisco, called to start the Chinese Methodist Church where he was ordained and pastored for 52 years until his retirement.”
